Hollywood stars Nicholas Cage, Hilary Swank tour Giza Pyramids
30 November 2017: Award-winning Hollywood movie stars Nicholas Cage, Hilary Swank and Adrian Brody on Thursday toured the Giza Pyramids plateau as part of their visit to Egypt, they visited the Giza pyramids and the Sphinx in their swift visit to Cairo to attend the closing ceremony of the 39th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF).
The three stars to attend the closing ceremony – scheduled to take place on Thursday – despite the recent attack on al-Rawda mosque in North Sinai that is deemed to be the deadliest in Egypt’s modern history.
CIFF, organized by DMC channels and runs between 21 and 30 November, stirred criticism during the opening ceremony. Dutch-Palestinian filmmaker Hany Abu-Assad interrupted the screening of his own film during the opening after people had left the theater and headed out to the opening of the buffet.
Abu-Assad’s film “The Mountains Between Us” was seeing its first screening in Egypt, before the Oscar-nominated director addressed the few people at the screening saying, “I thank you for staying; however, the rest did not respect the cinema which I find very insulting.”
Hollywood star Elizabeth Hurley was the guest of the CIFF’s opening ceremony.
